POLICE are investigating external damage to a high-profile nightclub in Melbourne’s inner east, following reports of a drive-by shooting last night.
Investigators attended Boutique Nightclub in Greville Street Prahran on Friday afternoon, following reports shots were fired on Thursday night.
Bullet holes were visible on the front door as well as the window on the first level of the club.
There is also damage to the first level of neighbouring Palate cafe.
Victoria Police said no official reports have been made but enquires were underway.
“We have been made aware of photos of damage to a door and window at a nightclub in Greville Street,” spokeswoman Natalie Webster said.
Boutique is one of Melbourne’s premier nightclubs owned by Darren ‘Razzle’ Thornburgh, who denied there was a shooting of any description.
“A window was smashed last night which happens on a regular basis,” he said.
“It was another day in the office, it happens all the time. People throw shit all the time at the joint.”
An illegally parked white two-door Mercedes sports car with personalised number plates was of interest to detectives this afternoon.
Detectives were also seen searching a nearby drain on Greville Street, following reports of a dumped shot gun.
Mr Thornburgh said business will go ahead as usual for the club.
