Shocking metal bar road rage attack filmed in Tullamarine

A shocking road rage attack between a motorbike rider and driver has been caught on camera — with the men using what appears to be a metal bar during the spat.

A shocking road rage attack involving what appears to be a metal bar has been caught on camera in northwest Melbourne.

Resident Jan said the incident was caught on his CCTV, on Mickleham Rd in Tullamarine around 8pm last night.

“It just seems staggering that could actually happen. Why would someone drive around with a two-by-four metal bar and how’s this attack happen?” he told 3AW.

The footage shows a driver and motorcyclist pull over on a side road before the two men confront each other.

The driver is carrying what appears to be a metal bar, which the rider grabs and turns on the other man.

The motorcyclist then throws the weapon away and part of the incident is obscured by a roadside pole.

But the two continue to fight before the driver returns to his car with the bar.

Jan wasn’t at home when the incident happened but said his wife alerted him to the CCTV footage.

“She said, you won’t believe it. There was a lot of screaming and shouting, and a guy with a little bar,” he told 3AW.

He said the fight lasted about three to four minutes.

“Initially, I thought it was a motorbike (rider) with the metal bar but but he’s taken it away from the guy who was driving and proceeds to attack the driver back with it.

“You don’t expect anyone to be driving around with a two-by-four metal bar.”

Victoria Police said a witness alerted them to a road rage incident in Tullamarine shortly before 9pm on Monday.

But there was no one at the scene when officers arrived.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
