A shocked neighbour has told of how he saw a woman’s “entire head … on fire” after a tiff broke out in Shepparton over an allegedly stolen scooter.

Police were forced to use a garden hose to extinguish flames on 20-year-old woman Paris Carpio after she was allegedly set alight by another woman.

Two women were flown to hospital in a critical condition after a 33-year-old Shepparton woman allegedly set the other on fire about 6.30pm on Monday.

After allegedly fleeing the scene on the corner of Middlesex and Yorkshire crescents, 33-year-old Jordan Spencer was found nearby and flown to hospital, where she remains under police guard.

Both women — who it’s understood are known to each other — are fighting for life in The Alfred hospital.

They remain in a critical condition.

A GoFundMe has been set up by Serena Dullen to raise money for Ms Carpio.

The GoFundMe description mentions that Ms Carpio allegedly had “accelerant was thrown on her and (she) was set on fire”.

Neighbours say the tiff began earlier in the afternoon over a stolen scooter.

Chris Davies, who lives across the street, said one woman had allegedly taken a motorised scooter from the other early Monday.

The scooter’s owner — the 20-year-old — had been outside the residence all afternoon creating havoc, allegedly throwing stuff at the house, he said, before he called police about 4.30pm.

A fight then broke out between the pair.

By 6.30pm, the 20-year-old’s “entire head was on fire”.

“That was the only part of her body that was,” he said.

Detectives from Shepparton CIU, and the Arson Squad and Explosive Squad’s from Melbourne are investigating the incident.

Tyler, another nearby resident who lives on Essex Ct, was at a friend’s house when he heard sirens.

He rushed to the scene and saw “someone laying on the ground”.

Tyler said emergency services were putting the alight victim out with a “garden hose”, as three fire trucks and three police cars arrived.

He said a window of the property had also been smashed.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or online.
