Sports minister Martin Pakula would lose his seat of Keysborough under a proposed new Victorian electoral map unveiled today.

The seat would be one of three to be abolished under the changes including the marginal seats of Forest Hill, held by Liberal MP Neil Angus, and Mount Waverley, held by Labor’s Matt Fregon.

Some marginal seats, including Ringwood which is held by Labor with a margin of just 2.82 per cent, would take in parts of the abolished seats.

Three new seats, Berwick, Greenvale and Laverton, would be created in high-growth areas.

Under the proposed redivision only 11 of Victoria’s 88 districts would remain unchanged.

The proposed boundary changes would also see the Eastern Metropolitan Region renamed North-Eastern Metropolitan to reflect the addition of Bundoora and Morang districts into its boundary.

The redivision is the first for Victoria in eight years.

The new proposed boundary lines aim to ensure an equal number of electors in each seat while anticipating likely population changes.

A review of the state’s electorates found 28 districts had either too many or too few enrolled voters.

Public feedback on the proposal will be open until July 30 before final boundaries are published in October.
