THE Victorian government is staring down the barrel of a multi-million-dollar lawsuit over claims senior firefighters were forced to quit after being bullied and harassed by union members.

Documents obtained by The Australian newspaper allege members of the United Firefighters Union orchestrated a 15-year campaign of harassment against at least 10 senior firefighters, including posting a bullet to the home of a firefighter and other threats of violence.

Some UFU members allegedly refused to take orders from the senior officers while fighting fires.

The log of allegations claims workplace laws were repeatedly breached as the MFB failed to protect the firefighters from harassment.

The 10 firefighters claim they were forced into early retirement and financial loss due to the MFB’s failed efforts to protect them.
