SecondBite ambassador Matt Preston will join his fellow MasterChef judges George Calombaris and Gary Mehigan at the MCG on Monday night to cook for 450 people at the charity’s Waste Not Want Not Gala.
Sam Pang and Mick Molloy from The Front Bar are co-hosting the dinner that will be cooked by chefs including Teage Ezard (Ezard), Shaun Quade (Lume) and Donovan Cooke (Ryne). Manu Feildel is even putting aside My Kitchen Rules rivalry to join the MasterChef team in the kitchen.
“I love that Manu is coming down (from Sydney) for this. We’re all friends in the food world coming together for a great cause,” Matt says.
SecondBite hopes the gala dinner will raise enough money to provide one million meals to people in need.
The national charity redistributes surplus fresh food to community and food programs around Australia and is on track to serve its 100 millionth meal this year.
