Scottish tourist Euan Stevenson missing in Melbourne for almost a week

Have you seen this man? Fears are growing for Scottish tourist Euan Stevenson who has been missing in Melbourne for almost a week. Police say the disappearance is “high risk” and are deeply concerned for his welfare.

Fears are growing for a Scottish tourist missing in Melbourne for almost a week.

Euan Stevenson, 24, was last seen at an apartment on Rose Lane in the CBD about 9.15am last Wednesday.

His disappearance has been deemed by police as “high risk” and “out of character” and his family are deeply concerned for his welfare.

Police are now appealing to the public for help to find him.

The Scottish national came to Melbourne by himself on a working holiday visa.

It is understood he was due to work at the Melbourne Convention Centre the day of his disappearance but never showed.

His sister, Joanne Steveson, said his family are “worried sick” about him as he has not contacted them for days.

“(We) just want to know that he is okay,” she wrote on Facebook.

Sergeant John Elliott said Mr Stevenson had been dealt a heavy personal blow from Scotland shortly before he went missing. He was due to return to his home country at the end of this month.

“He has received a bit of bad news from overseas … we are unsure of what his intention were at the time,” said Sgt Elliott.

He added Mr Stevenson may “not want to be found” due to his phone being switched off.

His last transaction was via Apple Pay at a store in Southbank on Thursday. There was also an unconfirmed sighting of him in the St Kilda area on Monday night.

Police saturated the area, including at various backpacker’s accommodations, but found no trace of him.

Police are unsure whether he was carrying cash but have made inquiries with his bank to track any potential transactions.

He has no medical or psychological conditions and is not wanted by police for criminal offending.

Days earlier, in a public appeal for information, Ms Stevenson said police last sighted her brother buying a bottle of water and a cooler bag at Coles on Bay St, Port Melbourne at 10.23am the day he went missing.

“He used his phone to make this purchase (via mobile app) and this was the last transaction made on his account,” she wrote on Facebook.

“We do not have any further movement from police at this stage.”

It is understood he left his apartment without his bank card, passport and his phone was switched off.

He lives there with at least one flatmate.

Police have described Mr Stevenson as caucasian with a slim build and speaks with a Scottish accent.

He was last seen wearing a white T-shirt, black pants and pink hat.

Anyone with information about Euan is urged to contact Melbourne West Police Station on 8690 4444.
