Grazeland, a $1.7 million food precinct, is being proposed next to Scienceworks in Spotswood for the coming summer.
Dozens of shipping containers serving a range of cuisines would fill the empty site on Crown land on Booker St, according to plans submitted to Hobsons Bay Council.
As many as 30,000 food lovers are expected to visit the site every week.
The site would be open Friday night and weekends from lunch to mid-evening.
Grazeland is believed to be aimed at families but would also serve alcohol.
The site would also be available for private functions during the week.
The project aims to capitalise on the boom in night markets and food truck parks across Melbourne.
