Sam Newman leaves angry phone message after The Footy Show interview

UPDATE: AN unrepentant Sam Newman doesn’t give a toss about his c-bombing rant in which he threatened to punch a man’s head.

Sam Newman leaves angry message for Tony Sheahan.

AN unrepentant Sam Newman doesn’t give a toss about his c-bomb rant.

We all know Newman is a vitriolic anti-PC warrior. But even The Footy Show clown might wake up on Saturday morning regretting his vulgar voice message, telling someone they are a “24-carat c---”, and the next time he sees them he would “punch his f------ head in”.

Not so. Newman told Page 13 it was simply a case of “hyperbole in the extreme”.

We’ll remember to use that next time we need to unload like a trooper.

But septuagenarian Sam wouldn’t know about the millennial maxim “never email or leave messages when angry”.

He’s not on Twitter so needn’t bother about “never drink and tweet”.

How did the brouhaha all start?

It’s amazing the circus when the mob meets the media.

Mick Gatto should consider a career as spin doctor after he beckoned the media to Villa Romana, the Lygon St restaurant of top crony John Khoury, only to inform them he was actually talking to The Footy Show and to tune in later that night.

This was not before giving a reporter a squeeze on the neck.

“Just being affectionate,” Gatto said with a grin.

HUTCHY FOOTY SHOW DEBUT FAILS TO EXCITE

Step in “Fat Ange” Venditti to assume the role as jester, yelling “don’t open the boot” as Gatto walked to his Rolls Royce Ghost.

There wasn’t a body bag like last time, just Gatto getting a coupla Cubans to chomp down.

While we would have thought security was a bit tighter for someone in the er, mediation business, The Footy Show “exclusive” interview seemed like a free-for-all with plenty of Gatto’s inked-up mates watching.

15 Minutes of Fame website creator Tony Sheahan also found himself in the room and — like any newshound — took an interest, to which Newman later took umbrage after the video emerged on the Herald Sun website beating The Footy Show to the punch. All’s fair in love and breaking stories, but not so for Newman, who unleashed an explosive message — following it up with name-checking Sheahan on air during The Footy Show premiere.

Newman pointed to the camera and called Sheahan a “piece of s---” not once but twice. Game on!
