The Salvation Army has been assisting Australia’s less fortunate for more than 150 years, providing 17,000-plus beds for the homeless and 40,000 meals for the hungry each week.

The annual Red Shield Appeal, which began in 1965, is aiming to raise $7.5 million.

Salvation Army Major Brendon Nottle said the organisation was calling
for donations big or
small to top their multimillion-dollar target.

“We need the public’s support now more than ever. More and more people from all walks of life are turning to the Salvation Army for assistance,” he said.

The Salvation Army’s annual Red Shield Doorknock will run from May 26-27
