Part of the legacy passed on to his wife and children are eight licence plates — which run in consecutive numerical order — worth $2.52 million.

His car collection includes a $550,000 2015 Rolls Royce Wraith, a $115,000 2016 Porsche Cayenne GYS and a 2006 Ferrari valued at $220,000.

Mr Walker, the driving force behind the Melbourne Grand Prix and the 2006 Commonwealth Games, and one of the founders of Crown casino, made most of his wealth in property development.

His will states he had $8 million in Victorian real estate, including his sprawling Toorak mansion and a beachfront property in Sorrento — which has several clauses attached.

“It is my fervent wish the (Sorrento) property is not sold and remains available to my family for future generations,” the will states.

He also had two multi-million-dollar properties in Noosa and Noosa Heads.

The will also reveals he was a collector of art and paintings, all of which was left to his wife, Barbara. His children will have first rights to buy the remaining artworks when she dies.

Before his death, the man known as Mr Melbourne had a long history of charity work and helping the less fortunate.

In death, he has left $200,000 to be carved up in whatever amounts to any charities his trustees choose.

A long-serving employee has been rewarded with $100,000.

Mr Walker’s Companion in the Order of Australia and Officer in the Order of Australia have been left to his children.

The former Melbourne lord mayor also allocated cash for his wife and children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren to be invested. Other sums would be put into a trust fund annually.
