The cause of death of the Melbourne mother who died at a health retreat near Ballarat remains unknown, despite an autopsy having been conducted.
Melbourne mother Rachael Dixon died on Sunday night after consuming a drink believed to have contained mushrooms.
The 53-year-old personal trainer went into cardiac arrest around midnight after ingesting the drink at “creative wellbeing centre” Soul Barn in Clunes, near Ballarat.
In a statement released on Friday evening, Victoria Police confirmed an autopsy has been conducted on Ms Dixon, revealing that “at this stage the cause of death remains unknown.”
Investigations into the death remain ongoing, as police continue to prepare a report for the coroner.
Soul Barn, a health retreat specialising in holistic and alternative practices, said it was shocked and devastated by Ms Dixon’s death, emphasising that the retreat Ms Dixon attended was not run by them or facilitated by any of their staff.
“Soul Barn hires out workshop places to external businesses.
“The event which took place on April 13 was a private event, and those facilitating the event do not work for or represent Soul Barn in any way,” the centre said in a statement.
Soul Barn will remain closed while police investigate Ms Dixon’s death.
Two other people were taken to hospital on Sunday evening, but have since been discharged.
The statement from Victoria Police comes as Ms Dixon’s family continue to post tributes to their loved one on social media.
Son Matthew Mountain offered a poignant tribute to his beloved mother, expressing his “infinite love.”
“I can’t thank you enough for everything you ever did for me.
“Words can’t describe how much I will miss you, wish I could give you one last hug,” he wrote.
