The extraordinary impact of Shane Warne’s legacy heart checks continues with a new daily record hit over Gather Round in Adelaide.

In a single day on Saturday, 2360 screenings were conducted, with almost 9000 fans expected to be tested across the week.

Jackson and Brooke Warne, the eldest children of late cricket great Shane Warne, said they were blown away by how the message was resonating.

“The response from the public for these vital checks has been phenomenal,” Jackson said.

“It’s great to bring this event to a footy audience. We’ve seen many couples, families and individuals taking proactive steps towards better health, and the positive feedback reflects the importance of making these checks accessible to all.”

Brooke added: “I came down to the marquee on Saturday and it was incredible to hear some of the stories people had. I met one lady called Sue who saw Jackson on Sunrise and came down for a check and had her blood pressure came up as severe and so she’s off to book an appointment with her GP.”

Statistics from SiSU Health, which set up 36 machines across Adelaide Oval, Norwood and Mt Barker, with 24 additional machines for testing cholesterol and diabetes, showed male participation at 60 per cent and highest with people aged 45-64.

The campaign has been enacted in conjunction with the state government, the Shane Warne Legacy, SiSU Health and Flinders University.

“What stands out is the overwhelming gratitude from the public,’’ said Shane Warne Legacy Chief Executive Helen Nolan.

“We’ve witnessed individuals receiving immediate diagnoses of life-threatening conditions they had no idea about.”

Warne, 52, died of a suspected heart attack in Thailand two years ago.
