THE leadfoot daughter of Real Housewives of Melbourne star Chyka Keebaugh has lost her licence and her car after failing to turn up to court to face speeding charges.
Chessie Keebaugh was caught speeding by fixed cameras three times in a day, travelling at up to 19km/h over the limit in Brooklyn, Sunshine West and Southbank.
The business marketing student did not appear at a hearing at the Moorabbin Magistrates’ Court this week and was fined a total of $760 without conviction.
But now her angry mum has vowed to sell her black Mini Cooper as added punishment. Chyka had initially told her daughter to fight the charges of her alleged speeding on August 5 last year.
But she said the reason her daughter did not attend court was because she had broken her ankle.
“Our general consensus was that to lose nine demerit points and fines of up to $800 was a lot for a P-plate driver, who had only gained her licence eight weeks prior,” she said.
Chyka said the well-heeled family did not condone speeding. “In no way did Francesca seek to avoid taking responsibility for her actions,” Ms Keebaugh said.
“If there is a story here, it’s that no one should speed, on that we all agree 100 per cent. Equally, there’s the issue around the multiple camera fines and demerit points attributed on a single journey of 20 minutes.”
The “embarrassing” speeding incident comes after Chessie was featured on the Foxtel program when she scratched her father’s car while her parents were away overseas.
Her father, Bruce, chided her for lying about using the car, but said he was not concerned about the scratch to the rear panel.
In Victoria P-plate drivers who accumulate more than five demerit points face a three-month ban, plus a further month for each four demerit points in excess of the five — meaning that Chessie will lose her licence for at least four months.
Chyka, known as the “nice one” in the Housewives stable, has built an impressive business empire alongside her husband with their company The Big Group.
In recent episodes fans of the popular reality program have seen the homemaking and lifestyle blogger clash with fellow Housewife Lydia Schiavello, accusing her of spreading nasty rumours of a highly personal nature.
