A teen has addressed thousands of protesters at a pro-Palestinian rally outside the State Library calling for an end to “genocide”.
The 15-year-old Palestinian girl told the crowd she was “sick and tired” of seeing her people and their homes destroyed.
“This genocide must stop,” the teen said.
“People still can’t see the truth. What about all those children and babies … all they hear is crying and screaming.”
Meanwhile the crowd yelled “free Palestine” as they started to march down Swanston St.
A strong police presence surrounded the area as the crowd grew on Sunday afternoon.
The crowd chanted: “Free, free Palestine” and called to stop the violence.
A speaker addressing the crowd said: “We do not support our government’s stance to support with Israel unconditionally”.

“Brothers and sisters in humanity, I want the ground here to reverberate with your chants,” another speaker said.
“Free, free Palestine. Shame, shame, Biden, shame, stop playing Israel’s game,” the speaker shouted.
Greens leader Adam Bandt said the Greens voted against the invasion of Gaza.
“It’s a war crime,” Mr Bandt said.
“4000 Palestinians have been killed and the death toll that will continue to rise.
“End the war in Gaza, end the invasion, peace for Palestine now.”
Another speaker shouted: “This is a war crime, a war crime.”
“We’re seeing another genocide happening in Gaza today,” she said.
One sign read: “Free Palestine. Boycott Israel”.
Another sign said: “Not another genocide”.
One rally attendee, Selin, told the Herald Sun the violence must end in Gaza.
“I have come out here today to support my brothers and sisters in Palestine,” she said.
“This oppression has gone on for too long. We’ve had enough.
“This genocide must stop.”
