PREMIER Daniel Andrews says embattled Labor MP Cesar Melhem still has his support as he faces a probe into deals struck during his time at the Australian Workers Union.
The Fair Work Commission is investigating the former union official’s dealings with Cleanevent, Winslow Constructors and BMD Constructions after a referral from the Royal Commission into trade union corruption.
Asked if Mr Melhem had his backing, Mr Andrews replied: “Yes, yes he does.”
“The important thing is ... there is scrutiny from Fair Work and I don’t want to cut across that.
“Let’s let Fair Work do their job and we’ll deal with the facts of the matter if and when they come forward.”
Mr Melhem, who stood down as the Upper House whip last year, has denied any wrongdoing.
