Porter Davis customers get access to important documents pertaining to their half-built homes

Customers caught up in the collapse of Porter Davis will be given access to plans, drawings and other documents related to their half-built homes, confirmed by liquidators Grant Thornton.

Porter Davis victims demand state government pay back lost deposits

Porter Davis customers will be able to access plans, drawings and other documents to give to other builders after concerns copyright issues would stop them completing homes.

Since the building giant’s collapse, frustrated victims have begged liquidators to hand over any documents they can use to restart work on their half-built homes.

But they were yet to receive a response and feared the plans would never be released because they are Porter Davis’ intellectual property.

In a letter to customers, liquidators Grant Thornton confirmed they would make these documents available until May 31.

This will include building plans, engineer drawings, surveys and any permits taken out as part of their build.

Each customer will have access to this through an online portal by May 5 but they will be gone for good by the end of the month once the website is shut down.

To offset copyright concerns, the liquidators will sell Porter Davis intellectual property to a third-party who will grant a one-time licence for works to be completed.

This will be under the strict condition that these documents can only be applied to their specific location, meaning they cannot be shared for other builds.

“Customers should also be aware that an additional suite of documents can be provided to the builder you choose to complete your home build, which may help to expedite the completion of your build,” the letter says.
