Play Melbourne Commute, the board game that makes you wish you were at work already

WHETHER you drive or take the train the Melbourne commuter journey is packed with perils, and this board game captures every infuriating turn.

WHETHER you drive or take the train, the Melbourne commuter journey is packed with perils, from track works to traffic jams, speed cams to ticket inspectors.

The arduous daily gauntlet is so fraught with danger, the Herald Sun Department of Internet has captured the twists, turns and tears of the morning commute in a board game.

Scroll to the bottom of the board for rules.

Sure, Monopoly is back at Maccas with a one in five chance of a free small fries or something.

But Melbourne Commute gives you a one in one chance of frustration, anxiety and profound disillusionment.

Play it every day. You don’t really have a choice.

RULES

1. Play daily with up to one million players. But best keep it to two to four players for better gameplay.

2. Players take it in turn to roll a single die to advance their token (we suggest pen lids and bottle caps, whatever). Beginning at the ‘start’ house, they each player chooses whether they drive or take the train.

3. Each player starts with $150 in game money and must keep track of their balance during the course of the game. Players may land on spaces that detract or add to their balance.

4. If a player’s balance reaches $0, they must return to the start of the game.

5. The first player to reach ‘work’ wins.
