Partying patrons at Revolver seem oblivious to drug dangers despite warnings

IT TOOK a Herald Sun reporter less than five minutes at Melbourne’s notorious Revolver nightclub for a reveller to ask if they were selling drugs.

IT TOOK less than five minutes of me being at Revolver nightclub for a reveller to ask if I was selling “MD”.

It’s 4am on a Sunday, the room is dark, partygoers are dancing to the beat of heavy house-techno and coloured lights flash to the music, it's hard to believe I could be mistaken to be a drug dealer.

I was asked time and time again whether I was selling “anything” during a short time at the notorious Chapel Street nightclub.

The demand for party pills comes just a week after three people died and 20 were hospitalised after overdosing on a dodgy batch of ecstasy pills.

Revellers seem oblivious to the toxic batch. They’re still in search for the ultimate high.

The Herald Sun understands five overdosed on Revolver’s drug-fuelled dancefloor on the weekend of January 15.

The smokers’ outdoor room is packed with a mixed demographic.

From young to old, hipsters, private school kids, some even dressed in corporate attire- there’s no one type of reveller at Revolver, which means taking a bad pill isn’t reserved for the hardcore druggies. It could be anyone.

One patron asked me what day it was, he then continued to say how he hadn’t been home since Friday and it was time to text his mum to let her know he was OK.

I asked him if she knew he was at “Revs”, he looked at me and laughed.

“Nah babe, no way.”

There’s no music playing outside, but some dance along to the beat in their head.

One girl wore sunglasses despite it being pitch dark outside. I overheard her asking someone if they’re selling “K” (Ketamine).

Despite the warning signs throughout the club, the appetite for lethal pills continue unabated.
