IT’S been nine months since trucking tycoon LINDSAY FOX was conceived … 80 years ago.
Fox went overboard in July last year when he took 450 or so “first mates” on a $200,000-a-day top-of-the-line cruise ship for what he called his “conception” party.
Private butlers were on deck and call to guests including EDDIE McGUIRE, JEFF KENNETT and MOLLY MELDRUM as they sailed around the Mediterranean on the week-long voyage, with Penfolds (yes, there was Grange) wine tastings and fireworks organised by mining magnate GINA RINEHART. She sure knows how to ka-boom!
Fox will double down this month for his actual birthday on April 19.
He told Page 13 he is whisking away a select group of family and friends to LANG WALKER’s private Fijian Island, Kokomo. The Fox entourage will be among the first to enjoy the $100 million-plus resort which opened last week.
Life’s a beach with property developer Walker there to greet the Linfox billionaire. Walker has blocked out the entire month to welcome his first batch of deep pocketed guests.
The Beach Boys sang “Kokomo, that’s where you want to go” and Fox loves a party. Walker says he didn’t name his own slice of Fiji after the song, it was just a “happy” word that struck a chord with him as a young boy. His superyachts also carry the name.
Fox still has his tough side and didn’t hold back this week when he slammed Transurban CityLink toll rises as highway robbery. But that will all be behind him as the self-described “upmarket trucker” Fox sets off next week to enjoy Kokomo’s $17,175-per-night beachfront villa.
Fox will then head back to Melbourne to celebrate again. Good grief, is that one the “after-birth” party?
Eighty guests for 80 years will head to Fox’s luxury car museum for whisky tastings of the single-malt variety. To say JOHN ELLIOTT is excited is an understatement.
The top trucker can party.
