The cousin of veteran St Kilda ruckman Paddy Ryder has taken a huge leap of faith during a country footy match, taking a grab dubbed as “mark of the century”.

Brigades forward Kristerfer Ryder took a spectacular mark while playing against the Towns in the Great Northern Football League on Saturday in Western Australia.

Video footage by Filming Footy captured the moment Kris leapt onto the shoulders of a key-position teammate for significant hang time before he bought down the screamer deep in the forward line.

He topped off the moment to sounds of honking car horns and crowd cheers.

Coach Corey Foot told the Herald Sun that the atmosphere at the ground was “unreal”.

“Kris took two steps backwards and decided to leap up,” he said.

“As the full forward went to put his hands up, he has lifted Kris up with him which allowed him to take one of the greatest marks you will ever see.”

Mr Foot said the mark was a “special moment” during Indigenous round.

“Probably one of the most special things he did was once he kicked the goal, he did a little Indigenous dance so that was great as well,” he said.

“Being able to celebrate his culture and be up and about for a big mark like that and finish with a goal, it was awesome.”

Kris shared the video of the mark on social media with the caption “little something for the crowed”.

Fans on Twitter have dubbed the grab as a contender for “mark of the century” in the GNFL.

“Kris Ryder from Brigades took this screamer off the kick from his brother Jamie,” Murray McCartney wrote.

“Was lucky enough to have a front-row seat.”

Mr Foot said Kris had his family at the game who celebrated with him after the Brigades claimed a 108-point thumping.

The forward pocketer has played for the club for more than five years and is best known as being a naturally talented and gifted footballer who is crafty around the goals.

Kris is the cousin of AFL star Paddy Ryder who was traded to St Kilda after the 2019 season.
