UP to 40 outlaw bike members have finished their protest at Federation Square after criticising the Federal government for cancelling visas for their gang members.
The Rebel Outlaw Motor Cycle Gang (OMCG) waved placards and banners for more than an hour about visas being cancelled under section 501 - not passing a character test.
One member said the group wanted all people deported under the 501 policy to be returned to Australia,
“I thought Australia was meant to be the lucky country. How can this country do this to people?,” he said.
“Bring every single one of them back. If they want to live here, they should be allowed to.”
The protest was underway at 6.15pm with about 25 bikies attending, but swelled to about 40 members before it was disbanded at 7.30pm.
Another member told the Sunday Herald Sun that Immigration Minister Peter Dutton was one of the main reasons for the protest.
“I don’t get why Dutton needs to do this. It’s not fair. He shouldn’t be in government,” he said.
One placard read: Don’t like the apolagy (sic) in 2008 Dutton?
Police attended the peaceful protest.
Members told the Sunday Herald Sun they planned to return to Federation Square on Monday.
