A new spectator layout and more attractions will greet fans returning to the Caulfield Cup Carnival in force for the first time in three years.

The Melbourne Racing Club will on Wednesday announce revamped fan zones at the Caulfield Racecourse as crowds are welcomed back for the first time since 2019.

The general admission and member’s areas will be flipped as part of a Carnival footprint change aimed at improving the spectator experience.

With public tickets to the Caulfield Cup, Guineas Day and Thousand Guineas going on sale Wednesday, MRC chief executive Josh Blanksby said fans finally could expect a better day at the races than ever.

“We are very confident that no matter where you are, you will have a trackside view and plenty of space,’’ he said.

“You are so close to the action at Caulfield, compared to some other racecourses, you can hear it, you can lean over the fence and be part of it.’’

New zones include “The Field” – a new general admission event deck with space for 10,000 racegoers with access to Melbourne food outlets including “Pinchy’s” and Mr Miyagi.

Bigger VIP corporate marquees will be unveiled, closer to the front lawn, as well as a new beer garden, polo club and live stage.

A two storey “Caulfield Lounge” will have an outdoor deck overlooking the home straight. And “The Avenue” will boast a wine bar, Moet and Chandon “Champagne House”, “Bar Aperitivo” and a sessional St Hubert’s dining experience.

Mr Blanksby compared the new layout to the popular Grand Slam Oval area at the Australian Open.

“A lot more room for general admission, stages, food outlets, all the good stuff,’’ he said.

“But importantly they will still have great trackside views, they will be right there on the start and the focus is getting back to Caulfield and reconnecting with horse racing after three years.’’

With a reduced footprint due to redevelopment of the racecourse, he urged fans to get tickets quick.

“My recommendation is that people jump in early and secure your spot … we just want people to come back and enjoy it,’’ he said.
