A Muslim group has revealed it plans to mobilise an army of volunteers and target key polling booths in a bid to oust senior Labor MPs at next year’s federal election.

Handing out how-to-vote cards at booths with the largest numbers of voters deemed most likely to be angry at the Albanese government’s response to the war in Gaza will be a key component of the election strategy from the Muslim Votes Matter group.

Muslim Votes Matter national spokesman Ghaith Krayem said seats would be announced once candidates had been identified.

The Victorian seats of Attorney-General Mark Dreyfus (Isaacs) and Skills and Training Minister Andrew Giles (Scullin) are among those expected to targeted.

Hundreds of people turned out at the group’s national campaign launch at in Broadmeadows on Sunday.

Member of Muslim Vote UK, Dr Wajid Akhter said the Muslim community felt “disempowered, disenfranchised and disillusioned”.

“This is a community that isn’t used to seeing ourselves in power, we’re used to seeing ourselves begging for power,” he said.
