METEOROLOGIST Jane Bunn is comfortable being labelled a snow-bunny this winter, with her love of Victoria’s alpine regions seeing her having a ski run named in her honour.
“I think that is fitting — it is the Bunn Run, my name is Jane Bunn, snow bunnies are pretty cool things and I am OK to be associated with that,” she said.
Mt Buller will unveil the Bunn Run on Wednesday, a Blue, or intermediate run, named after the Channel Seven News weather presenter.
Bunn, a dedicated skier, said it was a trip to the snow as a teenager that triggered her interest in weather.
“I still can’t believe this has actually happened,” she said.
“My husband took me skiing when I was 18 and I was absolutely hooked (on skiing and the weather) from that point.
“It was the early days of the internet and I was on all those geeky online forums learning about snow, and where it comes from, and debates over what this model says and what that model says.
“If you compare that to where I am now, it is just mind-blowing.”
Bunn said she was looking forward to skiing down her own slope.
“When you are in the mountains and it is snowing it transforms everything and the way it feels is amazing,” she said.
“The atmosphere changes, the sounds changes, it has just got this expectation of everything and this quiet loveliness as well, and so it is something I think you need to get every now and again to feel awesome about life.”
