Friends and relatives of motorcyclist Ramaine ‘Stay’ Meldrum have remembered her as a “bubbly” and “friendly” person following an alleged hit-run collision at Wyndham Vale on Friday afternoon.

Ms Meldrum, 47, was travelling south on a motorbike towards Werribee on the Princes Fwy just after 4pm, when it is believed she collided with a silver Toyota Hilux near Forsyth Rd.

The Hilux allegedly failed to stop at the scene and was seen exiting the highway at Werribee.

Real Estate agent Rick Goodman told the Sunday Herald Sun he was friends with Stay for more than 20 years through motorcycle circles.

“She was bubbly, friendly, easygoing and lots of fun,” he told the Herald Sun.

“She’d been riding a long time, well over 20 years, she was an experienced rider.”

Mr Goodman said Ms Meldrum had a young daughter.

“It angers you a little bit, maybe if that person had stopped and rendered assistance maybe it would be different,” he said.

“It’s pretty saddening.”

Ms Meldrum fell from her vehicle and was rushed to hospital in a critical condition. She died from her injuries.

Ms Meldrum’s cousin posted on social media saying “her daughter doesn't have a mother” after the driver fled.

“The driver done the wrong thing and now my cousin is gone,” she said.

“Her daughter doesn’t have a mother to tuck her in at night, her mother doesn’t get to kiss her child goodnight.

“Very sad.”

A 45-year-old man was arrested by police at Wyndham Vale at 6.30pm Friday, before being interviewed and released pending further inquiries.

Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives are appealing for witnesses or drivers who may have dashcam footage of the incident.

Others posted to social media it was “such a tragic loss”.

“That beautiful smile of yours will not be forgotten, and you will live on in the memory of every person you have ever met,” a post to social media said.
