Mongols’ Port Melbourne headquarters raided by police ahead of convoy to NSW

Police have raided the Port Melbourne headquarters of the Mongols outlaw motorcycle gang just as they were heading out for a long-distance ride.

Police have zeroed in on the Mongols outlaw motorcycle gang headquarters in Port Melbourne ahead of a convoy run to NSW.

Officers were seen conducted motorcycle checks at the gang’s Bertie St clubhouse about 8am.

Mongol members will today begin their journey to northern NSW as part of a four-day ride.

Police have vowed to keep a close eye on the gang members, and take “swift action” if necessary.

“Taskforce Echo detectives, local police and NSW Police will closely monitor the run and will take swift action to detect and disrupt any OMCG (outlaw motorcycle gang) members who commit crimes, road safety or public order offences,” said a police spokeswoman.

“Victoria Police will continue to work with other agencies as part of a national approach to OMCG enforcement.
