A high-profile Mongols bikie was struck down with COVID-19 following the ultra-violent construction industry protests.

Dylan Goddard aka The Destroyer on Saturday revealed he had spent time in an intensive care unit after contracting the virus.

In a photo published on social media, the hulking bikie was seen in a hospital gown with wires plugged to his chest.

He wrote: “Just got out of ICU. Covid is real”.

Goddard, a former professional fighter, emerged on Melbourne’s outlaw motorcycle gang scene earlier this year.

The tradie was captured on livestream footage outside CFMEU’s headquarters on Monday September 27 – the first day of the chaotic construction protests.

The footage captured him without a mask in a densely packed crowd of up to 500 men.

It later emerged a COVID-19 positive person attended the protest and had spread the virus among protesters and union officials.

CFMEU headquarters was declared a Tier 1 exposure site on Wednesday, with four union staffers infected with the virus.

On Saturday, COVID-19 response commander Jeroen Weimar confirmed the outbreak had risen to five with 126 people identified as primary close contacts.

CFMEU boss John Setka said: “This outbreak caused by the disgusting behaviour of selfish and reckless people with no regard to the wellbeing of the thousands of construction workers or their families will not deter our commitment to getting construction back open and all our members back to work”.

It is unconfirmed if Goddard’s infection is linked to the CFMEU cluster.

According to social media, he is a trained dogger and has worked on sites including the Victorian government’s Level Crossing Removal Project.

In 2018 he posed up with tradie mates at Hughesdale railway station as it underwent works.

Goddard has swiftly moved up the ranks of the powerful Mongols bikie gang in recent times.

He is a close ally of club president Toby Mitchell, referring to him as a “brother by choice”.

Goddard is also closely connected to Josh Rider, a patched Mongols bikie charged with the 2019 execution-style killing of fruitier Paul Virgona.

A month after the EastLink ambush, and before Rider was charged, Goddard posted a photo of them together at a restaurant with other Mongols bikies with the caption: “Never let ‘em no (sic) what ya thinkin boys.”

Goddard was known as The Destroyer in his heavyweight boxing days.

He has since coached high-profile reality starts including Bachelorette contestant Timm Hanly.
