Library-goers had more to check out than just books this afternoon when two men dressed as firefighters stripped in the reading hall.
Wearing just firemen bottoms and white singlets, video posted online shows the daring duo sliding across the floor of the Victorian State Library’s Redmond Barry Reading Room.
One of the men rips open his shirt, as his partner saunters up to a group appearing to study nearby.
The entertainment lasted no longer than 30 seconds before security guards hosed down the impromptu show.
One witness, who was using the library’s free Wi-Fi, told the Herald Sun the action began when the pair began playing the Bonnie Tyler classic, Holding out for a Hero, from a portable speaker.
“To my shock, upon turning around, there were a pair of gentlemen dressed as firefighters performing a striptease,” the witness said.
“Looking around, there were a lot of shocked faces as well as a few looking on with lustful abandon.

“The whole show lasted about 30 glorious seconds before it abruptly finished, at which point most of those in the library burst into rapturous applause.
“All in all, a 10/10 performance, would view again!”
A spokesman for the State Library declined to comment.
The library has reportedly returned to quiet.
