Ruby Woods, 11, an aspiring dancer, led a large group of women who marched through the CBD holding a blue ribbon inscribed with pro-equality messages.

“I am here because I think things should be fair ... 50-50 for men and women ... especially when I’m older and have a job,” she said.

Other campaigners said it was time more women break the glass ceiling.

Katie Wood said: “I want a balance of equality in the home and workplace.”

“Balance in the workplace can’t happen without equality in the home.”

Grace Varga said workplace inequality was a key issue to her.

Her friend Teagan Ramsay said: “I can’t believe we have been fighting this fight for so long but we still aren’t equal.”

Women chanted “time’s up” as they marched through the city — a phrase synonymous with the collective movement of women calling men out for sexual harassment and bullying.
