COMMUTERS are furious at delays on the Hurstbridge line after power faults caused transport havoc.

A Metro Trains spokesman said overhead power faults caused disruptions for trains between Clifton Hill and Macleod train stations.

Trains had resumed in both directions by about 7.15pm but major delays continued after workers fixed a power fault between Ivanhoe and Rosanna.

Up to 12 buses were sent to replace trains but, due to heavy traffic in the area, initial buses took longer than expected to pick up passengers.

Some commuters said they had to wait up to 40 minutes for transport, with many airing their grievances on social media.
