Fifteen-thousand people will score $15 tickets to this year’s Melbourne Royal Show, while kids aged 14 and under will go free on the final day of the event.

The “super saver” tickets – a 70 per cent discount on the full-price adult rate of $49.50 – will be available on a first-in basis from midday on August 8 and valid for Monday September 30, Tuesday October 1 and Wednesday October 2.

Anyone who misses out on the deal can still snap up discounted early bird tickets, including an $89 family pass for two adults and two children, until September 22.

Children aged four and under will go free throughout the 11-day event – which kicks off on September 26 – and that offer will be extended to all kids aged 14 and under on the last day, October 6.

Entry after 5pm will cost $30 for adults and attendees can save up to 25 per cent on rides by adding passes to their ticket purchases.

Ticket prices have increased slightly from 2023. But Melbourne Royal had strived to keep the event affordable via “incredible ticketing offers”, and ensuring the entry price included access to more than 100 experiences, activities and entertainment acts, chief executive Brad Jenkins said.

“(We are) offering show-goers up to 12 hours of family fun and festivities each day,” he said. “And we’ve worked with our Show partners to freeze prices of many popular food and beverage items.”

Nightly fireworks displays are making their much-anticipated return for the first time since 2019.

Mr Jenkins also highlighted the “high-octane” Superdog Spectacular, BMX Freestyle and working clydesdale demonstrations as new must-see showcases, alongside returning favourites the woodchopping, more than 3700 arts, crafts and cookery exhibits and 11 daily stage shows for kids.

He said the Show would celebrate 60 years of the beloved Animal Nursery with a “bigger and better” offering that allowed attendees to “get up close and cuddly with more than 250 farm animals” and experience a new interactive element.

Esteemed equestrienne event the Garryowen also turns 90 in 2024.

More than 350 showbags will be up for grabs for between $5 and $50.

The most affordable offerings include the classic Bertie Beetle (blue) bag, Wizz Fizz Lil Fizz and Cadbury Dairy Milk. The costs of all Bertie Beetle varieties have been frozen from 2023 prices.
