The death of model Baillee Schneider in Moonee Ponds was not suspicious, Victoria’s Deputy Coroner has ruled.
The unusual circumstances surrounding the 25-year-old’s death in June 2018 meant it was referred to the Coroner because it appeared to be the result of an accident or injury.
Ms Schneider, who worked as a model and was a regular of the Melbourne nightclub scene, was discovered lifeless in the kitchen of her parents’ Moonee Ponds home.
A toxicology report revealed Ms Schneider had traces of cocaine and ethanol in her system when she died and had a blood-alcohol level of 0.17 – more than three times the legal driving limit.
Deputy Coroner Caitlin English said in her findings, published on Tuesday, a homicide squad detective who reviewed the case had not identified any suspicious circumstances with respect to the death.
Ms English wrote: “I am satisfied that Ms Schneider, whilst affected by alcohol, prescription medication and cocaine, and upset by relationship difficulties, made an impulsive decision to end her own life.”
The findings said Ms Schneider’s death occurred shortly after the break-up of her relationship with socialite Anthony Hampel. The findings said on the morning of her death, Ms Schneider was in tears in her bedroom and discussed the break up with her mother Sabine Schneider. Ms English wrote: “I convey my sincere condolences to Ms Schneider’s parents for their tragic loss”.
