Travis Auld to become new boss of Melbourne Grand Prix

GENERAL admission tickets to next year’s Melbourne Grand Prix have sold out within hours of going on sale.

All grandstand and general admission tickets to the March 24 were snapped up by keen fans on Tuesday, with only a limited amount left for Saturday’s qualifying.

A final release of tickets went on at noon today and were sold in under two hours.

It came after a record more than 100,000 people pre-registered for tickets that went on sale Monday.

It means the only way you can now buy a ticket to the race is to shell out for corporate hospitality packages.

Australian Grand Prix Corporation chief executive Travis Auld said:

“The record-breaking number of pre-registrations and the rate of today’s sales demonstrates that fans are just as excited as us for next year’s Formula 1 event in Melbourne.”

“Whilst the Grandstand and Park Pass ticket allocation for Sunday is exhausted, there’s still plenty happening on Thursday, Friday and Saturday so we encourage fans to get in now to secure a ticket.”

A limited number of “Park Pass’’ tickets were still available for Saturday of the four day event on Tuesday afternoon.
