Melbourne CBD rampage driver Dimitrious Gargasoulas allegedly warned ‘I’ll take you all out’ in chilling Facebook post

SIX days before Dimitrious Gargasoulas is alleged to have launched his Bourke St massacre, a post on his Facebook site warned: “I’LL TAKE YOU ALL OUT JUST ME YOU NEED A ARMY TO TAKE ME AND SO FAR YOU HAVE PRESENTED HALF A ARMY.”

The January 14 post on the 26-year-old’s site continued: “FOR ALL THOSE WHO KNOW ME ... KNOW IM A GENUINE GOOD SEXY YOUNG GUY. AND THAT IVE EXPERIENCED DAYS AND NIGHTS I THOUGHT ID NEVER EXPERIENCE IN MY LIFE SINCE I GOT TO MELBOURNE WELL GUESS WHAT ... IVE BEEN BLESSED ... AND NOW YOUR F&*KED.”

Victoria Police Chief Commissioner Graham Ashton Friday told a press conference that the suspect, who was last night under police guard in hospital after being shot in the arm by officers, was well known to police. It has also emerged that last Saturday night Mr Gargasoulas was bailed by a bail justice for the alleged assault of his mother’s partner, Gavin Wilson.

Police were then called to a housing commission property in Raleigh St, Windsor after reports of a stabbing at 2am Friday. When police arrived both the suspect and victim were not there. Later in the morning, Angelo Gargasoulas, the alleged driver’s brother, presented at The Alfred with serious stab wounds.

The Herald Sun has been told that Dimitrious Gargasoulas, also known as Jimmy or James, has a history of drug abuse. And over the past three weeks, a series of angry and rambling messages were posted on Mr Gargasoulas’s Facebook site. One message threatens the police, alongside an image of guns and bullets.

“The next time you hear of a police officer being killed ‘in the line of duty,’ take a moment to consider the very real possibility that maybe in that case, the ‘law enforcer’ was the bad guy and the ‘cop killer’ was the good guy,” it said.

“As it happens, that has been the case more often than not throughout human history. F*%k da police.”

In the past two weeks the messages posted on his social media sites became more aggressive and strange.

One post on Monday: “I DECLARE WAR ON TYRANNY TODAY YOU DOGS WILL HAVE THE OPTION TO EITHER BELIEVE IN ME ... STAY FAITHFUL TO ME ... OR SERVE THE ONE WHO ENSLAVES YOU AT HIS FEET.” Another crazed post: “I AM KING OF KINGS GOD HIMSELF IN A HUMANBODILY (sic) FORM.”

It appears Friday’s carnage was sparked by a confrontation between the two Gargasoulas brothers. A eyewitness told the H erald Sun she saw a man go on a “stabbing frenzy” with a kitchen knife in Raleigh St, Windsor.

Jess Bergin said she was about to go out with friends when she heard screams from the street about 2am.

“I looked outside my apartment building and saw two guys and two girls punching on,” Ms Bergin said.

“This guy was holding this huge kitchen knife and started slashing at the windows and went after this guy.”

The 19-year-old described the attack on the victim as “vicious” and “uncontrolled”.

“He was just hacking at this guy ... it was absolutely brutal,” Ms Bergin said.

The Windsor resident said there was a woman who got out of a car during the attack and started screaming.

“The girl got back into the car but the guy with the knife started slashing at the back window, the two side windows,” Ms Bergin said.

It is understood the alleged offender then jumped into the car but got out soon after and walked towards Punt Rd.

A number of social media posts published on Mr Gargasoulas’s sites were homophobic. One paranoid post said: “I SAY WITH CONFIDENCE THERE IS A SECRET SOCIETY OUT THERE DIRECTING ORDERS.”

Another said: “I have the holly (sic) power to change the world but i need you to belive (sic) in me ... AND NO HOMOSEXUAL SHALL RULE THE WORLD.”

The January 14 post continued: “TODAY THE GODS HAVE GIVEN ME WISDOM AND KNOWLEDGE. THEY HAVE AWOKEN ME.”

Hours before the stabbing, Dimitrious Gargasoulas was also reportedly refused entry to a St Kilda venue. Witnesses saw Mr Gargasoulas walk from McDonald’s in Acland St and take a seat at Dog’s Bar across the road about 10pm on Thursday.

Mr Gargasoulas, who appeared to be on drugs, was told to leave because of his state at about 10pm.

He became disgruntled after being told he couldn’t eat his McDonald’s at the venue.

Management said the man was never welcome at the premises. His behaviour was reported to police that night.
