Melbourne and Olympic Parks to become a no Coke zone after landmark drinks deal
A major change to the drinks menu at events held at Melbourne and Olympic Parks is coming after a landmark deal.

The entire Melbourne and Olympic Parks precinct is set to become a no Coke zone following a landmark drinks deal struck by Japanese beverage giant Asahi.
Coca Cola will be taken off the drinks menu at AAMI Park and replaced with Pepsi Max, Solo and Gatorade under the multi million dollar deal.
It means the entire Australian Open precinct including Rod Laver Arena, Margaret Court Arena, Kia and John Cain Arenas as well as the rectangular stadium that is home to A-League, Melbourne Storm matches and concerts is Coke-free.
In a separate but related deal, fans will also be served premium beer Peroni Nastro Azzuro, craft beers such as Balter and Mountain Goat and Somersby cider at the venues.
Asahi Beverages Group chief executive Robert Iervasi said the deal extended a long-term association with Melbourne and Olympic Parks.
“Some of Australia’s most iconic sports and entertainment moments happen at this
precinct,’’ he said.
“So, it’s fitting that fans can watch them while quenching their thirst with some of
Australia’s most iconic beverages in hand.’’
Solo and Pepsi Max replaced Coke as the AFL’s official soft drink in December and Gatorade replaced Powerade as the league’s sports drink.
It comes as fans will be able to win a one-of-a-kind “super pass” to use with a guest at 10 eligible events at the precinct, including Robbie Williams and Sam Smith concerts, Cirque du Soleil and sport.
Visitors to the precinct will be able to scan a QR code between March 14 and April 30 at any food and beverage outlet to enter.
Melbourne and Olympic Parks Trust chief executive John Harnden said the lucky winner would be “blown away by the range of world-class events we have on offer over the next 12 months.’’
All events at the precinct are eligible for the prize except FIFA Women’s World Cup and Australian Open matches.
