Melbourne Airport offers $10,000 travel vouchers in Covid-19 vaccination competition

Increasing vaccination rates are propelling us closer to travel — and six double-jabbed Victorians will get $10,000 to kickstart their adventures.

Victorians have the chance to win $10,000 towards a dream holiday — but will need to be fully vaccinated against Covid-19 first.

Melbourne Airport is giving away a $10,000 travel voucher each month until the end of the year to incentivise jabs.

The competition will be open exclusively to Victorians who have had both Covid jabs.

“When it comes to flying, Victorians have been impacted severely, which is why we decided to launch our own incentive program to get more people dreaming about their next holiday in the safest way possible,” Melbourne Airport chief Lyell Strambi said.

“Vaccination is going to play a major role in unlocking air travel, especially overseas markets, so we’re adding our weight to the state’s vaccine drive in an effort to increase inoculations.”

Like many newlyweds during the pandemic, Marihan Hanna and John Akkary had a tumultuous journey in the lead-up to their union.

“Our wedding celebrations kicked off just as we first went into lockdown last year, so everything from my bridal shower and hens to the wedding itself and honeymoon were cancelled,” Ms Hanna said.

Not wanting to keep rescheduling their big day, the couple settled on a service witnessed by 10 guests.

“We made the best out of a difficult situation, but that was after we lost more than $30,000 in wedding and honeymoon costs,” Ms Hanna said.

“We also had to cancel our trip to Cyprus to attend my sister’s wedding, which she’s rescheduled for later this year, so I’m hoping we have a chance at winning this competition and can reunite and celebrate together.”

Competition entrants must be 18 or older and submit proof of full vaccination with a written or video submission detailing why they should win.
