THESE powerful images give a new insight into the massive scale of Victoria’s biggest infrastructure projects.

Metro Tunnel works have transformed sections of Melbourne’s CBD while a rail extension at Mernda will see an extra 34.5km of track installed.

Level crossing projects are reaching major milestones in Melbourne’s suburbs, with 12 crossings now removed.

Between Caulfield and Dandenong, work is ramping up to remove nine separate crossings by the end of the year — installing 2226 concrete segments and using about 40,000 tonnes of Australian steel.

On the Hurstbridge Line, enough soil to fill 10 Olympic pools will be excavated under Grange Rd during a 44-day construction blitz. There have been 18.9 million hours worked on level crossing projects so far.
