Police release Mark ‘Bomber’ Thompson

AFL great Mark “Bomber” Thompson has stepped out in public days after being questioned over an ongoing drug trafficking probe.

Thompson emerged from his Port Melbourne home on a bike about 11am this morning.

He declined to comment when asked about his involvement in the drug trafficking investigation which led police to raid his home last week.

Thompson was questioned and released without charge on Tuesday.

He appeared relaxed as he rode from his Rouse Street home with a black satchel across his back.

It comes as supporters say Thompson appeared calm the night before police raided his Port Melbourne property and made no reference to having experienced any problems with a tenant.

Thomas Windsor, 28, who is understood to have been living at the converted warehouse in Rouse St, has been charged with trafficking a drug of dependence, following the police raid last Friday.

Mr Windsor is alleged to have links to the Rebel bikies.

Another man charged, Karl Holt, is alleged to have links to the Bandidos bikie gang.

The layout of the warehouse includes a self-contained living area, and it has been claimed Mr Windsor was living in an apartment within the property rather than in the main living area. Thompson had temporarily moved out.

“They’re not in his (Thompson’s) part of the house,’’ it was claimed.

“There is no way known he will be involved in these shenanigans.

“It will come out that he has not done it. We all know a shady character or two ... but I can’t confirm or deny that (he knows either of the men).’’

The Herald Sun has not been able to establish whether Thompson knows Mr Windsor or Mr Holt, who have both been remanded by a magistrate.

Thompson, 54, was interviewed by police on Tuesday after presenting himself at a police station for questioning, and released without charge.

He is believed to have sought legal advice before going to the police station.

He has been publicly silent about the drug investigation, which is continuing.

Three people have been charged over the investigation, which is being conducted by Geelong and Prahran divisional response units.
