A CAT burglar who evaded police on Melbourne’s CBD rooftops after hitting an Elizabeth St shop remains on the run. It is suspected the man could be linked to other burglaries in the city today.

A CAT burglar who prowled the roofs of buildings remains on the run after escaping police and disappearing into the city.
The cunning crook, dressed all in black, sneaked across roof tops and used a manhole during his escapades which led to a major city search today.

A duffel bag seized from the roof of the My Chemist in Elizabeth St is being dusted for fingerprints as police work to determine the identity of the man.
The man is believed to have robbed the store, then escaped onto the roof, between Little Collins and Bourke streets about 1pm today.
It’s suspected the man could be linked to other burglaries in the city today.
Victoria Police spokeswoman Jess Brennan said: “Members were called to the store situated between Little Collins St and Bourke St, just before 1pm following reports of a man seen in the roof cavity.”
“Local police and air wing conducted a search for the man but no arrests were made.”
The man is described to be Asian in appearance, in his mid-20s and wearing black.
Police were seen outside the My Chemist store. Helicopters were reported circling the area.
Worried onlookers shared photos of the incident on social media.
Officers are trying to locate the man, with the assistance of the air wing.
