Stunned shoppers have captured the moment a man allegedly went on a wild rampage, jumping on a car and smashing a shop window in Melbourne’s west.

It’s alleged the violent attack happened on Hampshire and Devonshire roads in Sunshine about 4.30pm on Monday.

Video footage shows the man allegedly kicking the door of Thuan An restaurant and forcefully pushing pot plants to the ground before slamming the door and marching down the street.

The man swears and screams before he grabs a metal table and allegedly smashes it nine times into the window of another shop.

He allegedly throws the table on the ground and jumps on the windscreen of a car, shattering the glass.

Shoppers looked on in horror as one man filmed the entire incident.

Thuan An owner, Julie Than, wasn’t at her restaurant at the time but told the Herald Sun the shopping strip was often targeted by thugs.

“My staff were shocked but they are pretty resilient because it’s happened before,” she said.

“It’s an ongoing issue in the town centre, police just don’t get here quick enough.

“We need more security to stop the violence.”

It’s understood no-one was injured during the alleged rampage.

A 24-year-old Coburg man was charged with criminal damage offences.

He was bailed and will appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on March 27.
