First 2019 road death after man’s car hits tree in Kilsyth South
A young man has died after his car veered off the road and ploughed into a tree in Melbourne’s outer east on Saturday night. It is the first road fatality for the year.

Victoria has recorded its first road death of 2019.
A 23-year-old Burwood man died after his car ploughed into a tree in Kilsyth South on Saturday night.
The crash happened on Liverpool Rd, near the intersection of Chandlers Ln, about 9.20pm, when the man’s vehicle went off the road and struck a tree.

A Victoria Police spokeswoman said the man was travelling north when his car veered off the road at a slight bend, going on to the wrong side of the road before crashing into the tree.
The car then rolled on to its roof.
The man was the driver and sole occupant of the car.
Police were also at the scene of a crash on private farmland at Rainbow in the state’s northwest on Saturday night.
The circumstances of that crash are not yet known.
