Live fish shoved in undies in bizarre aquarium thefts

CCTV footage showing an alleged thief shoving a live fish in his underwear at New Life Aquarium has sparked a shocked reaction online.

Fish thieves strike Keysborough pet store

Video has been shared online showing three “geniuses” allegedly stealing live fish from an aquarium in Keysborough, with one thief even appearing to stuff one in his underwear.

New Life Aquarium shared the video on Thursday morning with a caption warning other local business owners of the mastermind fish poaching trio.

“Meet Genius 1,2 and 3 who are caught on camera in this episode of retail shenanigans,” it read.

“It involves a stolen net, live fish and one questionable hiding spot.

“We hope the fish are OK. But to fellow business owners, stay alert, because people like this are out there. (Have you) ever witnessed anything like this?”

One of the trio grabs a fish net as they walk towards the tanks at the back of the store and they quickly set to work securing their catch.

Kneeling on the ground in front of a tank one offender quickly scoops up and drops a discus fish into their, presumably dry, handbag before a second is added not long after.

Some more failed attempts follow before the alleged offenders set their sites on another section of the store.

This is where the video shows one very questionable decision being made.

One of the group appears to scoop up a pleco fish, and while ignoring the bag he has strapped around his chest, stuffs it into his underwear.

Commenters on the post were blown away by the actions of the “brain dead” group.

“Wow what fkn low life’s!!!!,” Samantha Florey wrote. “I can’t believe people did this!!!”

I am gobsmacked!!!!,” posted Allyce Capobus. “This is disgusting. Poor fish. Can cops not do anything??”

New Life Aquarium confirmed they had contacted police with the video clearly showing all three alleged offenders.
