Billionaire trucker Lindsay Fox has taken a serious fall at his Essendon Airport, landing the 84-year-old in hospital with a leg injury.

Fox was taken to a Melbourne hospital for urgent care after slipping in a hangar at the airport he co-owns with millionaire property developer Max Beck.

It is believed the Linfox trucking magnate’s injury from the fall did not require surgery but will take some time to completely heal.

Fox is believed to be worth almost $4bn, placing him in the top 20 of this nation’s richest people.

Fox and his family gave $20,000 to the Victorian Liberals via their Avalon Airport Australia Pty Ltd, the Australian Electoral Commission’s Annual Donor Returns for the past year to June 30 has revealed.

He founded Linfox in 1956.
