MAX Solomon has booted his way into the record books and into the hearts of country footy fans.

The Omeo and District league star has become the first Victorian footballer to kick 100 goals for the season

The 28-year-old made his mark on the leading goal-kickers tally, booting 30 goals in the first six rounds — and sealed the achievement with 70 goals in the six matches that followed.

But it was Solomon’s 17-goal haul during last weekend’s confrontation against cellar dwellers Swan Reach that really had the crowd at Lindenow South on their feet — including his wife and two sons.

But the humble player didn’t want to make a fuss.

“I didn’t really want to make it all about me,’’ Solomon said.

He knew he’d notched up a ton, but only became aware later that he was the first country player to achieve the feat this season.

“It felt pretty good,’’ he said.

Coach Noel Jansz said poaching Solomon had proved a smart move.

“He hasn’t missed a game all season, it’s impressive stuff,’’ Jansz said. “That’s 100 goals in just 12 games.

“He’s really exceeded our expectations.’’

He said Solomon was a smart player.

“He always seems to know where the ball is going and how to respond,’’ Jansz said.

“Off the field he is very family orientated. He is an enormous asset for the club.’’

Lindenow South is on track to cruise to their third consecutive grand final appearance, with many confident Solomon’s dominance will help seal a premiership hat trick.

The team faces Swift Creek on Sunday.
