Liberal MP Moira Deeming donates to GoFundMe to try and prosecute Dan Andrews and wife

Victorian Liberal Moira Deeming has been listed as one of the top donors on a GoFundMe page aimed at bankrolling a campaign by the family of “bike boy” Ryan Meuleman for the prosecution of former Victorian premier Dan Andrews and his wife Catherine.

Victorian Liberal MP Moira Deeming has been listed as one of the top donors on a GoFundMe page aimed at bankrolling a campaign by the family of “bike boy” Ryan Meuleman for the prosecution of former Victorian premier Dan Andrews and his wife Catherine.

Mr Meuleman suffered serious injuries after he was struck by an SUV being driven by the former Premier’s wife in Blairgowrie in 2013.

He was then 15-years-old.

The GoFundMe page, which launched in July, was created by Ryan’s father, Peter Meuleman and there have been 984 donations so far.

The page has already raised more than $65,000 towards its target of $250,000.

Liberal MP Moira Deeming has donated $500, the 17th highest amount given in the 984 donations so far.

Six people have donated $1000, one has given $510 and 13 are listed at $500, among them Mrs Deeming, who donated two months ago.

“We’re taking the fight to the couple — a private criminal prosecution against Daniel Andrews and his wife,” the GoFundMe page reads.

“This time, because it’s a criminal trial, there can be no settlement. It’s going to trial, the evidence will be heard, and the family will push for a jury to decide.

“Every dollar you donate will fund the legal work, expert reports, and professional advice needed to make this prosecution happen.”

The page also claims the family has enlisted the help of former Victorian Police Chief Commissioner Kel Glare and other “highly experienced” former officers to help draft criminal charges against the Andrews.

To date the money raised by the campaign has gone towards funding an independent crash investigator and traffic experts to help build a case against the Andrews, it’s claimed.

If the campaign fails, the funds will be used by the Meuleman family to pursue a private prosecution against the former premier and his wife.

It comes after it was revealed this week Ryan Meuleman, now 28, had allegedly failed to repay his former lawyers, Defteros Lawyers, nearly $270,000 in legal fees.

Mr Meuleman suffered multiple broken bones, a collapsed lung, internal bleeding and the loss of his spleen from the 2013 collision.
