Kyneton land set aside for Stafford Rescue Australia

THEY’RE the adorable faces many other charities can’t afford to save. Now Stafford Rescue Australia has been offered land to use in Kyneton, but they need help to build a facility for dogs in need of specialty treatments that can cost upwards of $10,000 per pooch.

THIS lucky pup will soon have a cosy bed and patch of grass to run amok on, thanks to a generous donation of private land.

Stafford Rescue Victoria has been offered 40 acres at Kyneton to give shelter to unwanted or neglected purebred Staffordshire Bull Terriers.

The property, which is already home to a number of rescued farm animals — including pigs, sheep and alpacas — is set to house five dogs in need of specialty treatment.

But their fight isn’t over just yet.

SRV co-ordinator Jan Hutton is now trying to raise $50,000 to build the facility.

She has also applied for a grant in the hope that the government will match the amount they’re aiming to raise.

Mrs Hutton said the charity focuses on fixing major health issues in dogs that other organisations or families can’t afford — with most costing upwards of $10,000 per pooch.

“We fix a lot of the problems they’ve got — they need ear and eye operations, cancers and care to prevent amputations. We spend a lot of money on saving their lives,” she said.

A GoFundMe had been set up for public donations, with $10,000 raised so far.
