A Melbourne pub has come under fire for its “deplorable” social media posts following the death of Queen Elizabeth II.

Kelly’s Hotel in Cranbourne made at least four offensive posts on Facebook in the days after the Queen’s death on September 9.

The now-deleted posts, featuring images of the Queen, Prince Harry and Princess Anne, were used to promote the venue.

“Do lunch before they die,” one post read.

“The opportunities after are extremely limited.”

The caption then listed the hotel’s number and website.

Another post featured an image of Prince Harry upset and included the caption: “Yet another grandson inconsolable because he was too miserable to take his auld (sic) Granny to lunch. “Don't let it be you!!!”

Disgruntled punters called out the pub, calling the posts “deplorable”, “tacky” and “tasteless”.

“I will never set foot in Kelly’s Cranbourne again,” Wendy Lynn said.

“Most disgusting advertising ever.

“No, they have not been hacked apparently this is normal for them.”

Beau Miller said he was boycotting the pub.

“The utter disrespect of these posts,” he said.

“This is beyond disgusting, in no way shape or form is someone else’s life ever something to make stupid jokes about or even sit back and use as a promotional thing.”

General manager Michael Goldie told the Herald Sun the pub was trying to send a “positive message” about spending time with the elderly.

“The posts were done to promote the fragility of life, especially with the elderly,” he said.

“The main aim was to encourage grandchildren to visit and take them for lunch.

“Oldies (sic) time is limited, spend some of yours to make their life better.”

Mr Goldie said the pub was “sorry” for “expressing themselves in such a clunky way”.

“We will continue with the message, love your oldies (sic),” he said.

Kelly’s Hotel is a fourth generation pub that opened in the early 1900s.
