POP superstar Katy Perry has vowed to explore Melbourne by bike and dine out at night as she prepares for three shows at Rod Laver Arena.
“The most important thing I’ve taken away from my decade of touring … is balance. Balance on every level,” Perry told the Herald Sun.
The Roar singer arrived in Melbourne yesterday.
She says she goes “biking during the day” and enjoys “great dinners at night” while “finding some of the most unusual things to do in cities, like bungee jumping … or abseiling … so I can truly experience every city I play in”.

IF KATY PERRY HAD RELEASED THIS KYLIE SONG IT WOULD HAVE BEEN NO.1
She added: “Melbourne is my favourite Australian city, hands down! It is a diverse and delicious place to visit.”
In Adelaide, her most recent tour stop, Perry visited the home of a sick child, and invited another young fan to sit on stage with her.
She is the first to admit her list of tour demands is boring.
“Fruits and vegetables, hummus and kombucha,” she revealed. “And apple cider vinegar. You’d think it would be too acidic for your voice, but it’s a great body balancer.”
To get in the zone for her shows, Perry starts the afternoon with yoga “to centre my mind”.
She follows that with “a group meditation with my tour mates” before hair, makeup and vocal exercises.
“Then a prayer circle with my band and dancers before hitting the stage,” she said.
TAYLOR SWIFT TO TOUR AUSTRALIA IN OCTOBER 2018
Perry says her massive show, packed with hits like Teenage Dream and California Gurls, is an “arc of liberation from (the opening song) Witness to (encore) Firework”.
She added: “Certainly, these themes are personal, but with this Witness cycle, I wanted to be able to share my story, so that others could be encouraged to share theirs”.
Sisters Gabby and Jade Sharp, dressed in homemade outfits based on Perry’s MET Gala outfit and performance costume, will get the chance to share their stories when they meet their idol tomorrow.
“We’re so inspired by her,” Gabby said. “She talks a lot about her issues with depression. She’s really helped me to cope with my anxiety.”
