Newly appointed chief executive Adam Lang said the network was excited to engage with the millions of sports fans across the country.

“Australians have a long-established obsession with sport and we continue to see growth in a variety of sporting endeavours,” Mr Lang said.

“There are more than 13 million sports fans in Australia. Sport is social, it bonds strangers together and we want to give them a voice and a platform to connect and engage,” he said.

The station is set to launch in conjunction with the Commonwealth Games on Wednesday with Macquarie Media the official AM commercial radio broadcaster of the 2018 Games.

The new breakfast and drive shows will hit the airwaves after the Commonwealth Games on April 16.
